Point of View: Dr. Michael Daria & Andrew Maxey, Tuscaloosa City Schools
Perspectives on Reading speaks with Superintendent Dr. Michael Daria and Director of Special Programs Andrew Maxey of the Tuscaloosa City Schools (AL). Providing instruction to more than 10,000 PreK-12 students across 21 schools, the district has recently embraced a renewed focus on literacy. Daria was the recipient of the 2018 American Association of School Librarians’ Distinguished School Administrator Award, and Maxey climbed Mount Kilimanjaro this past summer to raise money for library books.
