  1. Years ago, when I was director of the local library, I had a mother tell me she didn’t want her kids reading the Goosebumps books. I asked if she had read one. She said no, but judging from the cover it wasn’t something she wanted her kids reading. I suggested to her that the covers were one thing, the stories were another, and she should read one before deciding. Once she did she came back with a sheepish grin on her face and said she saw what I meant and it was fine for here kids to read them. That series and the Fear St. books always flew off the shelves.
